I was pretty stunned when Nas originally broke the news a couple of days ago.
Started working on the piece pretty much right away.
It does him zero justice, but I just wanted to pour some energy into giving something to a man whose creative work I deeply admired. From the first time I heard Hell on Earth, I knew Mobb Deep's sound was undoubtedly special.
Prodigy's lyricism were a big part of why I found their projects so resonating. Much of Mobb Deep's best songs were when all that was behind their lyrics was a haunting piano lick, a snare and a kick.
